The sequence of high-profile events kicked off with a major concert by the world-renowned American singer, songwriter, and rare EGOT status holder (Grammy, Oscar, Tony, and Emmy awards), John Legend. Organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, the musical evening immersed the legendary square in a unique atmosphere of soul and jazz. The artist's live performance was complemented by the ambient glow of hundreds of candles, drawing a vast audience of foreign tourists and local guests. Attendees noted that the concert perfectly demonstrated the ancient city's remarkable capacity to harmoniously welcome the most contemporary trends of global pop culture.

The cultural marathon continued just two days later, as Registan played host to a grand gala concert featuring opera soloists and the symphony orchestra of Russia's Bolshoi Theatre, conducted by the legendary maestro Valery Gergiev. This sublime performance by one of the planet's leading musical institutions was part of an international program dedicated to the milestone 250th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre. The masterpieces of world classics, performed under the open sky in Samarkand, strengthened international cultural ties and once again highlighted the special role of Uzbekistan's unique historical heritage within the context of contemporary global art.
