Russia expels British diplomat accusing him of espionage

The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) announced that it is expelling a British diplomat for engaging in "intelligence and sabotage activities" that threaten the country's security. This incident occurred amid rising tensions between London and Moscow.
The FSB stated that the British diplomat had "intentionally provided false information" when entering Russia, thus violating Russian laws. According to local media, the diplomat has been given two weeks to leave the country. This diplomat had been appointed in place of six British diplomats expelled in August for alleged espionage. At that time, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) dismissed the accusations as baseless.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that it had met with British Ambassador Nigel Casey, but the British government has yet to issue an official statement.
Relations between the UK and Russia further deteriorated last week after Britain allowed Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles against targets in Russia. This decision came after North Korea deployed over 10,000 troops to the Russia-Ukraine border. The US had also agreed to provide Ukraine with ATACMS missiles.
Kyiv used Storm Shadow missiles to strike a command post in the village of Marino in the Kursk region. According to Bloomberg, the UK delivered several dozen more of these missiles to Ukraine a few weeks ago.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin escalated the conflict with the West by launching an experimental ballistic missile at a military target in Dnipro, Ukraine, emphasizing that Western countries must understand that Moscow has the right to strike in response to arms deliveries to Russia.
It is worth noting that last weekend, a British mercenary was captured by Russia, and Russia announced it would take harsh measures against him.
