Russia launches major attack on Ukraine’s energy systems

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia carried out one of its largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy systems on Friday, launching 93 missiles and nearly 200 drones.
“This was one of the largest strikes targeting our energy infrastructure,” Zelensky said. During the attack, people in Kyiv sought shelter in metro stations.
Moscow described this attack as a response to Kyiv’s recent use of American missiles against targets inside Russia. The attack is viewed as part of Russia’s ongoing strategy to target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the war.
The strikes caused significant damage to Ukraine’s energy systems, leading to power outages across the country. Zelensky called on the international community to condemn such actions by Russia and to increase support for Ukraine.
