Russian cosmonaut sets a new record
World
Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko was in orbit for more than 878 days, setting a world record for total time in space. This is reported by "Roscosmos".
It is reported that on 4 February, he broke the record of another Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka.
"I fly into space to do my favorite thing, not to set records," Kononenko said.
By 5 June, Oleg Kononenko will become the first person in history to cumulatively spend 1,000 days in space.
"I am proud of all my achievements, but I am more proud that the record for the total duration of human stay in space is still held by a Russian cosmonaut," he added.
