The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, arrived in the Bukhara region on May 31, according to the press service of the Uzbek leader.
The trip began with a visit to the mausoleum of Bakhautdin Naqshband. Verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of Uzbek people.
At the initiative of the head of state, the complex was further improved, restoring its historical appearance. During the visit, the President inspected the work done.
First of all, the historical passage from the Toki Miyona gates to the mausoleum was restored. Now pilgrims will approach the mausoleum of Bakhautdin Naqshband from the "qibla" side, as tradition dictates.
"The restoration of the gates, destroyed a hundred years ago, is an embodiment of our self-awareness and respect for history. Now it is necessary to install inscriptions on every monument here, on the khan's tombs. We need to make sure that pilgrims study history step by step and are filled with spiritual strength," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Gardens are laid out on both sides of the Toki Miyona gates. A museum and facilities for ablution have been built. The Doniyolbiy madrasah, which was on the verge of disappearance, is being restored.
Issues of deepening the study of Bakhautdin Naqshband's legacy were discussed with scholars. It was emphasized that it is necessary to bring sources from other countries, support scientific research, and enrich the museum following the example of the Imam Bukhari complex. Instructions were also given to expand facilities for pilgrims, including foreign tourists, and to create conditions for comfortable stay throughout the year.
Responsible persons were tasked with drafting a resolution covering these issues, taking into account the proposals of scholars.
