Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Exports of products in the textile industry in 2023 amounted to $3.1 billion

Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video conference meeting is being held to discuss measures to increase exports and investments in the textile industry. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Asadov.
It was noted that last year, the volume of production of textile and knitwear products reached 94 trillion sums, which is 4.2 times higher compared to the figures of the last seven years. The export of products in this industry in 2023 amounted to 3.1 billion dollars.
At the same time, a decrease in demand for textile products in the global market over the last two years was observed. Additionally, there were problems with the exchange rate in the main export markets of Uzbekistan, which led to losses of 200 million dollars from exports last year.
The President pointed out that more than 6,000 enterprises in the textile industry provide permanent employment for 570,000 people.
By the directive of the head of state, a meeting was held with entrepreneurs from all directions of the textile industry, during which their current issues were studied and solutions were developed.
At the meeting, which was attended by more than one hundred businessmen, these issues were analyzed and new support measures were discussed.
