Shavkat Mirziyoyev's tour of the Olympic campus construction site

Today, 18 November, Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarised himself with the construction of the Olympic City. This was reported by the press service of the President.
As is known, Uzbekistan will host the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games in 2025. Thus, the Olympic City will provide conditions for practicing all kinds of sports included in the programme of these competitions. The area of the complex is 100 hectares. The main facilities are a 10,000-seat stadium and a 2,000-seat velodrome, a water sports palace, single and team sports complexes.
There will also be a 4-storey administrative building, 15 outdoor sports grounds, running tracks and parks. In general, 54% of the area of the town will be green zone. For this purpose, artificial lakes will be created on 37 hectares.
The project is being implemented jointly with the Chinese company CAMC Engineering, which has built sports facilities in 70 countries around the world.
A year ago, on 9 November, the head of state laid the foundation stone for the construction of this town. To date, foundation works of the main buildings have been completed. The structures of 5 complexes have been installed. About a thousand workers and engineers, special equipment are involved in the construction.
The President gave instructions on introducing foreign experience in the operation of the camp, taking security measures and improving the territory.
"After the Asian Games, the complexes should not be empty, but should serve our people. Along with training, a base for sports education, science and medicine should be created here. That is, this place will be a scientific and practical, training centre of our country," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Later, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, sports federations, the State Sports Academy of Uzbekistan and other agencies will operate here. Sports facilities will be available to citizens for sports.
"In the future, children's sports schools should be linked to this township. This will serve as a bridge from mass sports to professional sports," the President said.
Since the township will also host the Para Asian Games, sectors adapted to the needs of physically challenged people will be organised here.
On the recommendation of the President, the complex is planned to utilise renewable energy. Solar panels with an annual capacity of 10 megawatts will be installed on an area of 56,000 square metres.
Information on projects launched this year in accordance with the investment programme of Tashkent city presented last year is also presented here. It was noted that for the past period of this year 360 projects were implemented in the sphere of production and services, 20 thousand jobs were created. It is also planned to create a new generation industrial zone on an area of 650 hectares in Yangikhayot district.
