Ahead of his state visit to Uzbekistan, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol announced plans to create a high-tech hub in Central Asia together with Uzbekistan.

In an interview with the Dunyo news agency, Yoon Suk Yeol emphasised that Uzbekistan, thanks to reforms and active economic policy, has become an attractive place for investment.

Yoon Suk Yeol expressed hope that the joint efforts of the two countries will lead to the creation of an innovative Silk Road of the 21st century, contributing to the scientific and technological breakthrough and prosperity of the region.

"Korea, strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of research and development (R&D) and humanitarian exchanges in the field of advanced sciences and technologies, including ICT, semiconductors for artificial intelligence (AI), hopes to jointly build a high-tech hub in Central Asia and create an innovative Silk Road of the 21st century, which will lead humanity to a scientific and technological breakthrough," the Korean leader said.

At the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on 13-15 June.
