The Super Heavy booster, designed to propel the ship, separated as planned and completed its flight in the Gulf of Mexico.

Starship itself remained in orbit for more than an hour. During this time, it deployed several Starlink satellite simulators before making a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean. Despite sustaining damage to its tail section, the spacecraft remained controllable and fulfilled its mission.

SpaceX stated that the primary objectives were achieved, calling the test flight “an important step toward creating the world’s first fully reusable rocket.”
