The Polish government has introduced mandatory basic military training classes for school students, including shooting instruction and first aid skills. The government notes that this initiative is aimed at addressing "the growing threats to national security due to the war in Ukraine."

The new subject is called "Safety Training." These lessons are mandatory for 8th-grade primary school students and 1st-grade high school students (teenagers aged 14–16). Such classes have existed in Poland since 2022, but they were previously optional. Now, the curriculum, coordinated with the Ministry of National Defense, includes topics such as "firearm preparation," "shooting skill improvement," "rescue operation basics," and "counteracting threats in military conditions."

The program also includes exercises on assembling and disassembling weapons and precision aiming. Training sessions are held in school gyms using lasers instead of live ammunition.

"In primary schools, the requirements include theoretical training on the safe handling of weapons. In high schools, basic shooting training exercises with practical components are conducted using safe instruments," the report states.

Military training basics are allocated no more than one hour per week. The primary purpose of the lessons is to ensure national security and conduct rescue operations in emergency situations.

It should be noted that a few months ago, Uzbekistan adopted a similar government resolution. According to it, attention will be increased to the system of pre-draft basic training for students. Military-patriotic education classes in senior grades were extended by one hour. To enhance the prestige of teachers in this field, a system of awarding them military ranks was established.
