World
The southwestern region of Pakistan has once again become the epicenter of a brutal terror attack that has claimed the lives of dozens of innocent civilians. A massive explosion ripped through a busy railway sector, reducing a passenger train to a heap of twisted metal. Behind this meticulously planned assault, which has paralyzed a major transport artery of the province, stand radical groups that have repeatedly sought to destabilize the nation through bloody acts of violence.
At least 47 people have been killed and nearly 100 others sustained varying degrees of injuries following a bomb attack on a passenger train in the city of Quetta, southwestern Pakistan. According to Xinhua news agency, the tragedy occurred on May 24, 2026, in Balochistan province. A suicide bomber detonated an explosive device on the tracks in the Chaman-Phatak area directly as the train was passing by.
The blast was powerful enough to cause three carriages to derail, with two of them completely overturning. The shockwave also inflicted severe damage on nearby buildings and vehicles parked in the vicinity. Responsibility for the deadly attack was officially claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, a separatist militant group banned by the Pakistani government.
