According to Urunov, the declaration marking the end of negotiations was signed on July 21 in Geneva. He expressed gratitude to both delegations for their hard work and constructive cooperation.

“Just a few countries remain! The long list is shrinking — the countdown has begun!” he wrote.

Switzerland is now the 24th trade partner with which Uzbekistan has finalized WTO-related agreements. Previously, the country successfully concluded similar negotiations with the United Kingdom, the United States, Pakistan, and Thailand.

On December 19, 2024, Uzbekistan signed a protocol with the U.S. on market access, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai.

Concluding talks with Switzerland marks another important milestone for Uzbekistan on its path toward full WTO membership.
