The new coat of arms depicts an eagle with three stars on its chest and fourteen feathers on its tail - according to the number of provinces in the country and the years of the popular uprising that led to the change of power.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar'a emphasized that the renewed eagle reflects "a new stage in the history of Syria and the strength of its people," which has embarked on the path of restoration after decades of dictatorship.

Previously, the country used symbols associated with the BAAS party, which came to power in 1963 and held control until the recent overthrow of the regime. The new emblem became a symbolic gesture, consolidating the historical turning point and the country's aspiration for democratic changes.
