On January 10 and 11, 2026, Dubai Opera will host the international debut of Tamerlano, staged by Italian director Stefano Poda.
The production combines music, drama, and visual art, exploring themes of love, power, and fate. In a modern interpretation by composer Kirill Richter, George Frideric Handel’s classical score has been given a renewed sound while preserving the integrity and richness of its vocal and instrumental parts.
The music will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan under the direction of Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, the Orchestra of Folk Instruments, and the State Choir of Uzbekistan. The updated score incorporates Eastern musical elements, enhancing the scale, emotional depth, and expressiveness of the production.
