“Two Weeks to a Bomb”: Trump Explains Strike on Iran
World
US President Donald Trump stated that the joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran was driven by the threat of Tehran developing nuclear weapons within weeks.
In an interview with Fox News, the US leader said that, according to American assessments, Iran was nearing the final stage of producing a nuclear warhead.
“If we had not done this, within two weeks they would have had a nuclear warhead. After that, nothing that is happening now would have been possible,” Trump said.
According to the president, this assessment was the key factor behind the decision to launch the strike. Washington believes the operation prevented a new and more dangerous phase of escalation in the region.
No official response from Tehran to these statements had been reported at the time of publication.
