Tashkent is establishing a network of specialized urban plant nurseries aimed at producing greenery adapted to the environmental conditions of a large city, according to municipal authorities.
The nurseries will grow large urban-resilient trees, as well as shrubs and perennial plants capable of withstanding drought and temperature fluctuations. These plants are intended for landscaping streets, parks, and newly developed public spaces.
City services report that work on the nursery system is nearing completion, with full launch planned for spring 2026.
The project aims to provide the capital with its own sustainable planting material, reduce reliance on imported plants, and enhance the city’s ecological resilience.
