Telegram Expands Cooperation with Other Countries Following French Collaboration
World
Telegram, which recently started cooperating with French law enforcement after the detention of its co-founder Pavel Durov, is now receiving requests for information from other countries. This development follows Telegram’s cooperation in cybercrime investigations in France.
According to Le Figaro, several nations have submitted their requests to Telegram after learning about its cooperation with French authorities. One unnamed EU country reportedly received information about a group within Telegram responsible for ordering around a hundred murders. Additionally, South Korea and other countries are also involved in investigations through the French justice system.
France has also been addressing the spread of pornographic deepfakes via Telegram, which have become widely circulated on the platform. Measures to curb such activities are being actively discussed.
In August, Pavel Durov was charged with six offenses related to fraudsters' use of Telegram and his refusal to cooperate with French authorities. Following this, Telegram removed the "People Nearby" feature, often used by scammers, and announced plans to strengthen its moderation policies.
