TEMU to Start Operations in Uzbekistan as a Registered Taxpayer
Business
Marketplace TEMU has become a resident of Uzbekistan, but restrictions remain in place for now.
The e-commerce platform TEMU has registered in Uzbekistan as a legal entity and taxpayer, according to a statement from the Tax Committee’s press service.
However, negotiations are ongoing regarding the platform’s activities in previous periods. Final conclusions will be announced upon completion of these discussions.
Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers ruled that only legal entities registered in Uzbekistan may operate as e-commerce platforms in the country. This requirement took effect in December 2024.
It is worth noting that inspections revealed violations by foreign platforms, including TEMU, regarding e-commerce laws, advertising, personal data protection, and consumer rights. As a result, access to TEMU was scheduled to be restricted starting from March 20, 2025.
Users are advised not to place new orders via the platform and to request refunds if necessary. It is also recommended not to share personal data with marketplaces not registered in the Tax Committee’s official list.
