Uzbekistan and China Present $10 Billion in Projects in Termez

The first Uzbekistan-China investment forum in Termez district of Surkhandarya Region presented 95 prospective projects with a combined value of around $10 billion. Preliminary investment agreements worth more than $6.25 billion were reached on 63 of the projects.

The forum brought together more than 120 Chinese companies and over 350 business representatives. Uzbek entrepreneurs and government officials also attended, along with around 100 participants from Afghanistan, international organizations and the media.

The business programme included B2B, B2G and G2G meetings. Participants discussed joint projects, investor conditions, infrastructure and transport issues.

Logistics was a key focus of the forum. Delegates visited the Ayritom checkpoint, the Termez River Port and the Termez Cargo logistics centre. Discussions covered challenges in international road transportation and potential solutions for strengthening transport links.

The projects presented at the forum span manufacturing, construction, agriculture, processing, oil and gas, chemicals, electrical engineering, machinery, livestock, fisheries and medicinal plant cultivation. Tourism, education and trade were also included.

Ten projects in construction materials manufacturing are valued at $1.027 billion. Another 13 preliminary agreements in the services sector are estimated at $1.015 billion.

The forum highlighted Termez’s role as a southern trade and logistics platform connecting Uzbekistan with Afghanistan and providing access to markets in South Asia.
