Artificial intelligence has become one of the defining themes for stocks in 2023 — and it's also helping the rich get richer. The surge of interest in the intelligent ChatGPT language tool quickly spread across the markets, and large investors rushed to snatch up shares of companies that, in their opinion, can contribute to the growth of AI popularity.

According to Business Insider, major tech giants such as Meta Platforms and Nvidia have already achieved triple-digit profits thanks to the AI boom, while Microsoft, Google, parent company Alphabet and Oracle have also grown dramatically. This has helped the founders of companies that are already among the richest people in the world at the beginning of 2023 to become even richer.

Meta shares have risen 134% over the past year thanks to the development of AI and the so-called "year of efficiency", when Zuckerberg cut costs, which increased the fortune of the Facebook founder by more than $57 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Meanwhile, Oracle founder Larry Ellison beat Bill Gates for the first time in the publication's rich list earlier this week. His fortune in 2023 increased by $47 billion thanks to a 55 percent increase in the shares of the technology company.

Gates himself has become richer by $24 billion this year thanks to his Microsoft shares, as the Redmond-based tech giant has become the preferred player in the AI market for billionaire investors, including Stanley Druckenmiller.

And the man at the head of one of the biggest success stories on the stock market in 2023 — Nvidia founder Jensen Huang — also saw his personal fortune increase by $24 billion, according to the Bloomberg index. Again, this is largely due to Huang's shares in the chipmaker, which jumped in price by 192% and raised the company's market capitalization to $1 trillion.

According to Insider estimates, in 2023, the total wealth of the members of the list of the richest people in the world increased by more than $ 150 billion.
