The first fault-tolerant computer to be launched in 2024

Startup QuEra Computing has announced its plans to introduce the world's first commercially available fault-tolerant quantum computer by the end of 2024.

The innovative device will feature 256 physical qubits and 10 logical qubits, representing a significant breakthrough in quantum computing.

To create logical qubits, methods of combining several physical qubits will be used in order to reduce possible errors and increase the reliability of calculations.

Last December, QuEra, together with Harvard University and other scientific organisations, published a study that demonstrated the successful operation of a quantum computer with 48 logical qubits.

Although this device does not have high performance, it provides a platform for software developers to test the code of future quantum computers.
