The first toll road in Uzbekistan will be built with the money of the World Bank

By the end of this year, a megaproject worth $ 2.5 billion will be launched jointly with the World Bank for the construction of the Tashkent—Andijan toll highway, presidential candidate Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a meeting with voters in Andijan. It is expected that as a result of the project, the travel time from Andijan to Tashkent will be reduced from the current 5 hours to 3 hours.
Today, on June 14, presidential candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with voters of the Andijan region as part of the election campaign, the press service of the party reported.
"By the end of this year, a megaproject worth $ 2.5 billion for the construction of an alternative toll highway "Tashkent — Andijan" will begin jointly with the World Bank. As a result of the project, the travel time from Andijan to Tashkent will be reduced from the current 5 hours to 3 hours," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at this meeting.
In addition, he added that in order to bring the residents of the valley closer together, 4 electric trains will be launched along the Andijan-Fergana-Kokand-Namangan-Andijan railway ring. As a result, 8 flights will be organized per day and about 10,000 passengers will be transported. This will involve $40 million.
The candidate also promised to reconstruct the Andijan International Airport according to modern standards, $ 350 million will be allocated for this work.
