The leaders of Uzbekistan and the USA held a telephone conversation, during which they discussed the expansion of strategic partnership, the implementation of joint projects, and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of security, trade, and humanitarian exchange.
On September 5, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and U.S. President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation to discuss ways of further developing strategic partnership and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
President Trump praised Uzbekistan’s recent irreversible reforms aimed at modernizing the economy and improving people’s welfare. President Mirziyoyev congratulated Trump on the achievements of his administration’s domestic and foreign policy, highlighting U.S. efforts in ensuring global stability and peace.
The leaders placed particular emphasis on promoting joint projects in key sectors, including civil aviation, energy, critical mineral resources, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, education, and innovation.
Mutual trade between the two countries has been steadily growing, with turnover increasing by 15 percent in 2024. The sides agreed to boost business cooperation and sign new trade deals.
Security cooperation was also discussed, particularly in combating terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration. The presidents noted the expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, as well as the successful operation of American university branches in Tashkent.
President Trump wished success to Uzbekistan’s national football team, which will participate for the first time in the FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States in 2026.
The two leaders also exchanged views on international issues, including strengthening regional cooperation in the “C5+1” format. President Mirziyoyev invited President Trump to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
