President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Yermekbayev on March 5. The focus of the discussion is on strengthening multifaceted cooperation within the organization, security issues, and prospects for economic cooperation.
At the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of continuing the reforms initiated at the summit in Samarkand, aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the SCO. This includes strengthening interaction mechanisms, digitalizing logistics, and simplifying trade procedures between the participating countries.
Special attention was paid to the development of the "New Economic Dialogue," which includes the e-commerce program, a set of measures to stimulate investments, as well as the development of the Food Security Atlas. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening economic ties between the SCO states.
Preparations for the upcoming SCO summit in China, which will be an important milestone in the organization's development, were also discussed. Uzbekistan continues to play an active role in shaping new strategic directions within the framework of the association.
