The President of Uzbekistan receives the credentials of newly appointed foreign ambassadors

On November 27, a solemn ceremony of presenting credentials to the newly appointed foreign ambassadors to our country was held.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the credentials of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of the Hellenic Republic Paraskevi Tseveleki; the Republic of Indonesia Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin; the Republic of Latvia Girts Jaunzems; the French Republic Walid Fouque; the Russian Federation Alexey Erkhov; Japan Kenji Hirata; and the Republic of Tajikistan, Nasriddin Ismatullo.
The President sincerely congratulated the heads of the diplomatic missions on the beginning of their mission in the New Uzbekistan.
It was noted that in today’s challenging period, when complex geopolitical and economic problems in the world are rapidly intensifying, the work of diplomats is becoming increasingly important.
- You have been in our country for several months and witnessed how fast our state is developing and transforming into one of the centers of world diplomacy, - noted the President.
In particular, this year there was the successful holding of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the first “Central Asia – EU” summit, the international Climate Forum, the historic session of the UNESCO General Conference, and the summit of the heads of state of Central Asia.
Over the past few years, 13 UN General Assembly resolutions have been adopted at Uzbekistan’s initiative.
This year, our country rose 19 positions in the Global Sustainable Development Goals Index and entered the top five states showing the highest progress over the last 10 years. Over the past eight years, the economy has grown more than twofold. The poverty level has decreased from 35 percent to 6,6 percent.
As a result of the policy of openness, a visa-free regime has been introduced for nearly 100 countries. The geography of exports continues to expand steadily. This year, foreign trade turnover exceeded $66 billion for the first time in history. The volume of attracted foreign investment reached $39 billion.
The Head of State also expressed special gratitude to the governments of the countries represented for the active support in Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
Addressing the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, the President noted that Greece is one of Uzbekistan’s traditional and promising partners within the European Union.
This year, bilateral political consultations were successfully held. Since April, the Embassy of Greece in Tashkent has stared its operations.
Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade volume has increased fivefold. The importance of advancing cooperation in the pharmaceutical, light and food industries, energy, information technologies, and transport sectors was emphasized.
The need to ensure the effectiveness of the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Uzbek–Greek business forum in Tashkent was also highlighted.
Speaking about relations with the Republic of Indonesia, the President noted that our people have long been connected by historical, religious and cultural ties.
It was noted that since the beginning of the year the trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 60 percent. Joint enterprises in chemical industry, agriculture, telecommunications and tourism, are successfully operating. Direct flights will be established in December.
Confidence was expressed that the holding of Intergovernmental session and business-forum in Tashkent next year, as well as the political consultations in Jakarta will bring significant results.
During the discussion of relations with the Republic of Latvia, the Head of our state noted the steady development of political and economic ties, as well as the intensification of contacts between business circles.
Over the past five years, Uzbekistan’s exports to Latvia and the number of joint ventures have tripled. A branch of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency operates in our country.
It was also noted that the Days of Uzbek Culture and the Rectors’ Forum were recently successfully held in Riga, marking an important milestone in strengthening humanitarian cooperation and expanding educational exchanges.
It was emphasized that the signing of an agreement in the field of migration, the increase in the number of flights, and the effective use of economic cooperation mechanisms will contribute to further bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.
Speaking about the French Republic, the President highlighted that, thanks to active political dialogue, relations between our countries have been elevated to the level of strategic partnership. Last month, the first meeting of the Strategic Planning Group was held.
During the historic high-level visit to Paris in March of this year, joint projects worth $10 billion were agreed upon. Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade has exceeded $1,2 billion.
A Cooperation Program with the French Development Agency has been approved till 2030, and a joint Uzbek–French university has been opened.
The Days of Uzbek Culture and the exhibition of tourism potential held this year in Paris contributed to bringing our people closer.
The need to hold the first meeting of the joint Investment Council and the Interregional Forum next year was emphasized.

Last year the mutual trade volumes have been brought close to $12 billion. Over 3 thousand enterprises with Russian capital are operating in our country. Since the beginning of the year $4 billion of investments have been developed. 15 branches of Russian universities are effectively working.
This year the session of Interparliamentary commission, “INNOPROM” international industrial exhibition, the Council of the heads of regions, political consultations, Forum of rectors, Days of Russia’s culture and other events were held.
The importance was emphasized on the successful holding of Intergovernmental commission session on economic cooperation, as well as intensifying inter-regional dialogue.
One of the priorities of our external policy is expansion of strategic partnership with Japan.
In Uzbekistan, the offices of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and Nagoya University operate effectively.
Projects are being implemented in the fields of telecommunications, energy, healthcare, infrastructure development, education, and tourism, worth $8 billion.
In August, the first Strategic Dialogue meeting was held, and last month, the Rectors’ Forum took place in Samarkand.
In Osaka, as part of the “EXPO–2025” exhibition, Uzbekistan’s National Day was successfully organized.
Confidence was expressed that the upcoming high-level talks and business contacts in Tokyo next month will give new momentum to bilateral cooperation.
Thanks to shared political will, in recent years Uzbek–Tajik relations have reached the level of strategic partnership and alliance.
Border issues have been fully resolved, and transport links have been restored. Cooperation between parliaments, governments, regions, and business circles has intensified.
Mutual trade has increased more than fivefold, approaching $1 billion. It was emphasized that the creation of the “Oybek–Fotekhobod” free trade and border zone and the “Andarkhan” trade and logistics center will contribute to a multiple increase in trade turnover.
The potential for implementing joint projects in industry, transport, geology, energy, agriculture and water management, tourism, education, and culture was also noted.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Head of our state wished the newly appointed ambassadors great success in their honorable mission, called for the effective use of all available opportunities to strengthen partnership, recommended active engagement with the regions and representatives of the private sector.
