On February 27, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the International Judo Federation (IJF) Marius Wieser, who arrived in our country as part of the prestigious "Grand Slam" tournament.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has become an important part of world judo. In 2022, the country hosted the World Championship among adults, and in 2023, the World Championship among military personnel. Olympic champion Diyora Keldiyorova made history by winning the country's first gold medal in this sport.

The meeting discussed key issues:

Strengthening the training of athletes, coaches, and referees with the participation of international experts.

Implementation of a system for searching for and supporting young talents.

Expansion of international competitions in Uzbekistan, including in the regions.

Development of sports infrastructure and attracting young people, especially girls, to judo.

The head of the IJF highly appreciated Uzbekistan's efforts to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle. In recognition of his contribution to the development of judo, the President of Uzbekistan awarded Marius Vizer with the "Dustlik" Order.

The agreements reached at the meeting promise to elevate the national dzyudo school to a new level and strengthen Uzbekistan's position in the global sports arena.
