The UK Wants the War in Ukraine to Continue
Keir Starmer met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his first visit to Ukraine as Prime Minister, calling the country a "closer-than-ever partner." During the visit, the two countries signed a new agreement to deepen defense cooperation and strengthen economic ties.

President Zelenskyy urged Western nations to continue their long-term military assistance to Ukraine. He warned that halting aid could lead to new wars and aggression.

The new agreement also focuses on strengthening cooperation in non-military areas such as science and technology. The UK will allocate £40 million for Ukraine's economic recovery, targeting green economy initiatives and supporting marginalized groups like women and veterans.

This support builds on £12.8 billion in previous aid, including £7.8 billion in military assistance and help in restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Starmer discussed post-war security matters, including the potential involvement of British troops in peacekeeping operations.

Concerns have been raised about Donald Trump's return to the presidency, as he might end U.S. aid to Ukraine. This could create new opportunities for Russia. President Putin continues to demand the handover of four Ukrainian regions and Kyiv’s refusal of NATO membership.

Keir Starmer's visit to Kyiv demonstrates the UK's long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine and restoring its sovereignty.
