The West sees the BRICS as a new threat
Economy
The West is concerned that the BRICS has surpassed the G7 in its contribution to world GDP and controls a significant portion of the world's oil reserves and food production.
At the end of last year, the BRICS in its original composition (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) contributed 32.1 per cent to world GDP, while the G7 (Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the US) contributed 29.9 per cent. With Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the UAE officially joining the new membership, the BRICS' contribution to global GDP will increase to 35 per cent, and oil reserves under the alliance's control will be around 45 per cent.
In addition, the BRICS, especially thanks to China, controls almost 30 times the amount of rare metals compared to the G7. According to Pavel Maryshev, Development Director at Energy Plus, this puts the renewable energy sector under the full control of the BRICS and poses a threat to the energy security of the EU, the US and Japan.
