Trump Raises Pressure on Iran: Energy and Hormuz at Stake
US President Donald Trump warned that the United States could strike Iran’s key energy infrastructure — including power plants and oil fields — if no agreement is reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened in the near future.

The statement comes amid reports that the Pentagon is preparing various military options. According to US media, these may include limited ground operations such as special forces raids and infantry actions, while a full-scale invasion is not being considered.

Sources indicate that potential operations targeting Iran’s Kharg Island and other coastal areas near the Strait of Hormuz have been discussed, aiming to neutralize threats to maritime traffic.

The White House stressed that no final decision has been made, and the Pentagon’s role is to prepare all possible options.

Earlier, Trump claimed progress in negotiations, stating Iran had agreed to parts of a proposed plan. However, Tehran rejected this, calling the US demands unrealistic and confirming that no direct talks are taking place.

Diplomatic efforts continue through intermediaries, with Pakistan expressing readiness to facilitate dialogue between the parties.

The escalation follows ongoing hostilities, with US and Israeli strikes on Iran beginning in late February. In response, Tehran blocked the Strait of Hormuz — a critical global energy route through which up to 20% of the world’s oil and over 30% of liquefied natural gas pass — triggering a surge in energy prices.

Experts say дальнейшее развитие ситуации will depend on the outcome of negotiations, with the risk of further escalation if talks fail.
