US President Donald Trump said he does not believe reports claiming that Ukrainian drones attacked Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence.
US President Donald Trump stated that he does not consider reports of a Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence to be credible. He made the remarks while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
According to Trump, an incident did occur near the residence, but it had no connection to an alleged strike. “I don’t believe that attack happened. Something occurred nearby, but it has nothing to do with that,” he said.
Journalists reminded Trump that he had previously referred to a strike on Putin’s residence following a phone call with the Russian president. Trump responded that there was no verified information at the time. “Nobody knew then. I heard about it for the first time. He said his home was attacked. After we checked, we don’t believe it happened,” Trump explained.
On December 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Ukraine had attacked Putin’s residence in Valdai, in Russia’s Novgorod region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the statement as “another Russian lie.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, the US Central Intelligence Agency also believes that Ukraine did not attempt to attack the Russian president’s residence.
