Turkish national communications satellite Türksat 6A launched into space

The first satellite developed by Turkish engineers, Türksat 6A, was sent into space from Launch Complex 40 by SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket at 02:30 Turkish time, Anadolu reported.
Türkiye's Türksat 6A communications satellite was launched from the US Air Force station at Cape Canaveral in Florida at 02.30 Turkish time.
The launch operation, which was postponed several times due to unfavourable weather conditions, was safely completed.
Türksat 6A will be located at a distance of 35,786 kilometres from Earth and will provide services using 20 Ku-band transmitters. Türksat 6A with a power of 8.4 kilowatts and weighing 4,229 kilograms will serve the territories of India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
With the launch of this satellite, Türkiye will cover more than 65 per cent of the world's population with its communication satellites. The population covered by Turkish satellites will increase from 3.5 billion to more than 5 billion.
