UAE and Jordan Launch Risky Relief Operation
World
On July 27, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates launched their first joint humanitarian airdrop mission in months, delivering emergency aid to Gaza as the humanitarian crisis deepens under Israeli blockade.
According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN, aircraft dropped eight parachuted aid boxes — four landed in Gaza’s Old City and four in the Zeitoun neighborhood in the north.
Officials later confirmed that 25 tons of food and medical supplies were delivered during the mission. The drop targeted areas cut off from ground access due to the ongoing conflict and restrictions.
The Israeli military stated it would allow foreign countries to airdrop aid into Gaza starting Friday. However, this method has been controversial: previous airdrops resulted in civilian deaths, as boxes fell directly on people. Other packages landed in the sea, forcing desperate residents to rush toward the shore.
The number of Palestinians who have died from hunger in Gaza has now reached 133, according to official data. International pressure on Israel is growing, demanding the opening of safe humanitarian corridors.
