Ukraine has approved a new Cabinet of Ministers, although the appointments of the defense and foreign ministers remain pending. Parliament endorsed most of the proposed nominees, while decisions on two of the country's most important ministries have yet to be made.

The Cabinet proposed by newly appointed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi was approved by 264 lawmakers. The new government includes Denys Shmyhal as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Serhii Marchenko, who retained the finance portfolio, Viktor Liashko as health minister, along with new ministers responsible for the economy, interior, education, digital transformation, agriculture, justice, and several other sectors.

The Verkhovna Rada did not consider candidates for the defense and foreign affairs ministries because President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet submitted nominations. According to Ukrainian media reports, current Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko is being considered to lead the Ministry of Defense.

The planned reshuffle at the Defense Ministry has triggered political debate. Outgoing Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said his dismissal followed disagreements with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi over defense management and policy initiatives. Syrskyi, in turn, thanked Fedorov for his work and expressed hope that he would remain part of Ukraine's leadership team.

President Zelensky also confirmed that Fedorov would continue working within his team after leaving the ministry, although his future position has not yet been officially announced.
