South Korean corporation Samsung has announced plans to cut up to 30% of its overseas employees. These measures will affect employees in the marketing, sales and administrative staff by the end of the year.
According to Reuters, as part of the cuts, Samsung intends to lay off 15% of its employees in the marketing and sales departments, as well as up to 30% of its administrative staff overseas. The changes will affect employees in South and North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
In India, up to 1,000 people out of 25,000 employees are expected to be laid off, but there is no exact data for other countries yet. The company itself called the personnel changes "routine measures" to improve work efficiency, specifying that production employees will not be affected.
At the end of 2023, Samsung employed 267,800 people, and more than half of them were abroad.
