North Korea called US and South Korean exercises “useless bravado”
The Republic of Korea's military declarations and joint exercises with the United States are "empty bravado" that only "hasten their end." An article published in Rodong Sinmun newspaper, the main publication of the Workers' Party of Korea, said.

“Using the patronage of the United States, the puppets are hatching plans to invade the North and are following the path of confrontation and war. Their outrage is just stupidity and useless bravado, which will hasten their downfall” says the material.

The author of the article, Ho Young-min, listed the drills held in the Republic of Korea from late October to early December.

"Wherever they go, everywhere they stir up confrontation and incite war," the author said, criticising the South Korean military leadership's call for its subordinates to maintain full combat readiness.

On 21 November, the DPRK launched its first reconnaissance satellite, Mulligen-1. In response, the Republic of Korea announced a partial suspension of the inter-Korean de-escalation agreement and jointly imposed additional sanctions with the United States. The DPRK Ministry of Defence stated that it no longer considers itself bound by the agreement.
