US Intensifies Strikes on Iran as Trump Renews Nuclear Threat

Military tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate. US forces have carried out another round of strikes against military targets inside Iran, while President Donald Trump said Washington is considering further attacks, including potential strikes on underground facilities linked to Iran's nuclear programme.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation marked the eleventh consecutive wave of strikes and was aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities while ensuring the security of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state media reported that air defence systems were activated and explosions were heard in several parts of the country. Tehran warned that any attack on its nuclear infrastructure would be viewed as a further escalation of the conflict and would trigger a response.
President Trump said one of the potential targets could be the underground nuclear facility near Natanz, where the United States believes uranium enrichment-related activities are taking place. Iran rejected the threats and stated that it would respond to any attack on its territory.
The regional situation has also been complicated by growing tensions around key maritime routes. Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement warned that it could disrupt shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, raising fresh concerns over the stability of global oil supplies.
Despite the ongoing military confrontation, Washington said it remains open to diplomacy. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is still prepared for negotiations, although, according to him, Iran has yet to demonstrate readiness for constructive dialogue.
