Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan and Austria are bolstering their "security belt": a strategic document has been signed in Tashkent to define the vector of cooperation between the two nations in combating global threats. From cybercrime to illegal migration, Interior Ministers Aziz Tashpulatov and Gerhard Karner have agreed to establish unified response mechanisms and exchange cutting-edge digital expertise.
On May 7, an official meeting took place in Tashkent between the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, and the Federal Minister of the Interior of Austria, Gerhard Karner. The principal outcome of the negotiations was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the law enforcement sphere.
The parties paid particular attention to countering transnational crime, including human trafficking and illegal migration. The agenda also covered the fight against terrorism, extremism, and international drug trafficking. The ministers discussed the development of "safe tourism" infrastructure and the launch of exchange programs between the police academies of both countries to enhance the professional skills of personnel.
During the visit, the Austrian delegation was presented with Uzbekistan's achievements in the digitalization of the MIA system. The guests familiarized themselves with the modern technical equipment and IT solutions integrated into the operations of the internal affairs bodies. The signed document lays the foundation for a regular exchange of experience in cybersecurity and operational cooperation, enabling a more effective response to modern challenges.
