Uzbek and Chinese delegations hold talks

In accordance with the programme of the state visit, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping held talks with the participation of members of official delegations in Beijing on January 24. This was reported by the press service of the President.
During the meeting, the two leaders noted that a powerful breakthrough in bilateral relations had been made over the past years.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked for the PRC President's personal attention and support to the issues of cooperation in the fight against poverty.
"The sides welcomed the launch of a pilot project to introduce the Chinese system of vocational education in Uzbekistan - 'Lu Ban Workshop'," the statement said.
It is noted that by the end of 2023 the trade turnover reached $14 billion. It is mutually agreed that there is every opportunity to bring trade turnover to 20 billion dollars in the near future.
They also agreed to prepare and adopt cooperation programmes in infrastructure development, industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture and "green" energy.
The head of Uzbekistan welcomed the agreements on expanding financial instruments to support investment projects, including the creation of a joint platform, as well as the decision of China Eximbank to open a regional office for Central Asia in the city of Tashkent.
Mirziyoyev urged Chinese partners to actively participate in the processes of privatisation of state-owned enterprises and banks in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the importance of the early start of practical work on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, designed to become an important component of the Transcontinental Transport and Transit Bridge, was emphasised within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
It was proposed to intensify co-operation in education and tourism, to continue the practice of holding mutual cultural days. It was proposed to hold the first joint Youth Innovation Forum.
In order to implement all planned activities and initiatives, the parties agreed to hold meetings of the Intergovernmental Committee and all subcommittees in the first half of this year.
The sides also exchanged views on topical issues on the regional agenda and international politics.
The two sides reaffirmed their unchanged stance on supporting the "one China" policy and the fight against the "three forces of evil".
At the end of the talks, the Uzbek leader invited the Chinese leader to pay a visit to our country, as well as congratulated the friendly people of China on the upcoming Chinese New Year - Chun Jie holiday.
