Uzbek-Italian relations are developing dynamically
Uzbekistan
On May 29, talks were held at the Samarkand Congress Center between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgio Meloni. The focus is on expanding the strategic partnership, launching new investment mechanisms, and promoting joint scientific, educational, and cultural projects.
The parties noted with satisfaction the implementation of the agreements reached during Mirziyoyev's visit to Rome in June 2023. In recent years, trade turnover between the countries has grown almost threefold, the number of joint ventures has increased, and the range of mutual deliveries has expanded.
Cooperation with leading Italian companies has been established in metallurgy, electrical engineering, agriculture, tourism, and other areas. Branches of the Universities of Turin and Pisa are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, and the second Forum of Rectors was held. The Uzbek side also actively participates in the cultural life of Italy - the biennale in Venice, the exhibition in Florence, and the Days of Culture in Rome and Viareggio.
The creation of a joint investment fund, the involvement of the Italian agencies "SACE" and "SIMEST," and the launch of a Certification Center in Tashkent to assist Uzbek exporters in entering the EU market are being discussed.
The plans to open a branch of the University of Tuscia, to launch double diplomas with the Universities of Pisa, Trento, Roma Tre, and Ca Foscari were supported.
Among the important outcomes of the visit was the signing of the Agreement on Labor Migration, aimed at systematic cooperation in this area.
Following the meeting, a decision was made to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the implementation of the agreements reached.
