At the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Uzbekistan received the status of a partner country of the association. This is an important diplomatic step that expands the horizons of Tashkent's foreign policy and strengthens its position in the global arena.

On July 6, the 17th high-level summit of BRICS countries was held in Brazil, following which Indonesia was officially admitted to the organization as a full member. Another ten countries, including Uzbekistan, received the status of partner countries.

According to the joint statement of the summit participants, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Nigeria, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Uganda, and Uzbekistan joined BRICS as partners.

Although there was no official statement from the Uzbek authorities, the republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the information, noting that cooperation with BRICS is considered one of the balanced and pragmatic directions of foreign policy. According to the press secretary of the department, Ahror Burhonov, the republic is "studying the possibilities of cooperation" and is ready to contribute to common development, stability, and integration.

Among the priority areas of partnership with BRICS are trade, investment, transport, logistics, science, and innovation. Uzbekistan advocates for practical interaction and open dialogue within the framework of the association.

Also, the BRICS countries approved initiatives on climate finance, global artificial intelligence management, and combating socially significant diseases. These steps emphasize the participants' desire to address global challenges through sustainable and inclusive approaches.
