Uzbekistan Implements BIOFIN Global Tools to Protect Biodiversity
Uzbekistan
A delegation from the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, led by First Deputy Minister of Ecology Obidjon Kudratov, participated in the 12th Regional Dialogue on Biodiversity Finance for Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
The event, hosted in Turkey with the institutional backing of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the global BIOFIN initiative, convened agency heads, international experts, and private sector leaders representing more than 37 nations.
The delegates focused heavily on the structural transition of 33 countries within the region from theoretical planning to the active deployment of national Biodiversity Finance Plans. Participants conducted a comprehensive audit of existing financial mechanisms, expenditure optimization algorithms, and tools for leveraging private capital. During sessions featuring top UNDP executives and Turkey's Directorate General of Nature Conservation, stakeholders emphasized that targeted environmental funding directly dictates the baseline of food and water security amid accelerating climate change. For Uzbekistan, engagement in this dialogue secures direct access to advanced BIOFIN methodologies, enabling the integration of flora and fauna conservation frameworks directly into the state budget planning architecture.
