Uzbekistan and China are establishing an environmental research center in Tashkent
A Central Asian Research Center on Ecology and Climate Issues will be established in Tashkent. A corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Center will operate on the basis of the "Green University" and will become a platform for scientific research, personnel training, technology implementation, and experience exchange in the field of sustainable development. Joint conferences are expected to be held, laboratories will be created, practical projects will be implemented, and personnel potential will be developed.
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the implementation of the agreement signed in January 2024, including the creation of halophytic botanical gardens in several regions of Uzbekistan, the supply of 1.4 tons of seeds, the implementation of digital pollution monitoring systems, and the participation of Chinese specialists in the "Green Space" national initiative.
