Uzbekistan and Italy signed business agreements worth more than 9 billion euros

On Thursday, during the talks between the President of Uzbekistan and the President of Italy, issues of economic cooperation were discussed. The Heads of State also welcomed the results of the business forum held on Tuesday, following which a solid package of agreements and contracts worth over 9 billion euros was signed.

Yesterday, June 8, talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Italy Sergio Mattarella took place at the Quirinal Palace in Rome, the press service of the head of state reported.

During the talks, the Italian President reaffirmed his support for irreversible reforms in the New Uzbekistan, praised the country's efforts to ensure stability and prosperity in the Central Asian region.

The parties discussed issues of economic cooperation. Thus, in recent years, mutual trade turnover and the number of joint ventures have doubled. Leading Italian companies such as Pietro Fiorentini, Terra-nova, Danieli, Imagro, Ansaldo, Saipem and others work in Uzbekistan.

The Presidents welcomed the results of the business forum held on Tuesday, following which a solid package of agreements and contracts worth over 9 billion euros was signed.

The package of investment agreements and trade contracts signed at the business forum covers the fields of energy, agriculture, chemical industry, leather and footwear, textile and machine-building industries, ecology, transport and logistics, as well as banking.

At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Sergio Mattarella to pay an official visit to our country.
