Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will officially receive the status of BRICS partner countries starting from January 1, 2025. According to Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov, the list of new BRICS partner countries also includes Belarus, Bolivia, Indonesia, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, and Uganda.

In total, invitations were sent to 13 countries, and Russia is awaiting responses from four more countries.

The decision to create the category of BRICS partner countries was made at the summit held in Kazan in October 2024. According to Ushakov, before the summit, the organization received applications from 35 countries to join its activities in one capacity or another.

BRICS (BRICS) is an association of nine countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
