Uzbekistan and Pakistan are strengthening strategic partnership
Uzbekistan and Pakistan are strengthening their strategic partnership by expanding trade, economic, and transport cooperation. During the talks between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif in Tashkent, key areas of cooperation were identified, including increasing trade turnover to $2 billion, developing the "Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan" multimodal corridor, and constructing the Trans-Afghan railway.

According to the results of 2024, the volume of bilateral trade exceeded $400 million, and the number of joint ventures reached 130. With the aim of further growth, a decision was made to mutually simplify trade procedures, reduce barriers for imports and exports, and establish a joint transport and logistics company.

Special attention was paid to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties: the countries agreed to hold mutual Cultural weeks, tourist presentations, and the first Forum of Regions. The parties also discussed security issues and agreed on measures to combat terrorism and extremism.

In addition, a decision was made to establish a High Council for Strategic Partnership and hold its first meeting in 2026. To implement the agreements reached, a joint "roadmap" will be developed.
