Uzbekistan and Qatar may cooperate in AI research

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Sona, had a meeting today, October 2, at the Amiri Devon complex in Doha. The official delegations from both countries were present during the talks.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked the Emir of Qatar for inviting him to visit and welcoming the Uzbek delegation with great hospitality.

The meeting addressed the issues of further strengthening political dialog, expanding trade and economic, investment cooperation and boosting cultural and humanitarian exchange.

It was noted that the historic visit of the Emir of Qatar to Samarkand in June this year marked the beginning of a new stage in the relations between the countries.

The parties are ready to work together on investment projects focused on areas such as standard and renewable energy, chemical engineering, metal refining, construction, tourism, finance, and other sectors.

In order to intensify business contacts, it was proposed to hold a joint intergovernmental commission, the first meetings of the Business Council and a business forum in January 2024 in Doha.

It was highlighted that we must provide complete support to initiatives that aim to improve interactions in culture, education, and tourism.

In addition, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested in deepening cooperation with scientific and educational institutions of Qatar, conducting joint research in the field of biotechnology and artificial intelligence, "green" energy.

An agreement was reached to organize the Week of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan in Doha.

The sides also discussed topical issues of global and regional importance.

The sides emphasized the importance of supporting practical promotion of the trans-Afghan railroad construction project. The sides unanimously declared the importance of continuing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of state instructed to prepare a number of joint road maps and create mechanisms for effective implementation of the agreements reached. After the talks, a weighty package of documents was signed aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
