During talks with Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the UK House of Commons, Narbayeva discussed prospects for further developing Uzbek-British relations. Hoyle expressed his satisfaction at having attended as the guest of honour an event organized by Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United Kingdom to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. He praised the event’s organization and noted that such initiatives help strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The sides also considered ways to increase engagement between parliamentary committees and interparliamentary groups. Against the backdrop of growing interest among young people in Uzbekistan in learning English and studying in the UK, they discussed expanding cooperation with British universities and educational institutions. They also exchanged views on trade and economic ties, healthcare and security.

At a meeting with Hamda bint Hasan Al-Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of Qatar’s Shura Council, the discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue and enhancing the role of parliaments in implementing agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders. Proposals included regular contacts between committees and interparliamentary cooperation groups, online meetings, reciprocal visits and the development of a cooperation roadmap. Gender equality and women’s empowerment were also discussed. The Qatari parliamentarian praised reforms in Uzbekistan and highlighted the importance of the Second Asian Women’s Forum. She also commended Uzbekistan’s humanitarian initiatives, assistance to the people of Gaza and efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The Assembly also hosted a coordination meeting of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. Narbayeva outlined priorities for Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the network in 2027–2029, including sharing legislative experience, strengthening social protection, supporting young people, expanding opportunities for women and intensifying interparliamentary dialogue.

At the meeting, Narbayeva endorsed Sahiba Gafarova’s candidacy for the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, highlighting her contribution to interparliamentary dialogue and international cooperation. Representatives of Venezuela, Belarus, Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco and Tanzania also voiced support for Gafarova, emphasizing the importance of fair geographical representation and institutional continuity in the IPU’s work.
