Uzbekistan is accelerating the construction of new highways
Uzbekistan
The old road infrastructure is no longer able to handle the load. The Tashkent-Samarkand highway is designed for 32 thousand vehicles per day, but already 45 thousand vehicles pass through it, and by 2030 the flow may double. Construction of alternative highways is underway in Uzbekistan, which will significantly reduce travel time and improve logistics.
The President was presented with information on the implementation of road construction projects. A large-scale program for the development of highways is being implemented in the country. Work is underway on two key projects: the construction of a new "Tashkent - Andijan" highway and an alternative road between Tashkent and Samarkand.
The "Tashkent - Andijan" road project was developed with the support of the World Bank. The length of the highway will be 314 km, and travel time will be reduced from 5 to 3 hours. The international construction tender has already attracted more than 30 large companies. The launch of the road is expected to increase GDP by 2.6%, and reduce accidents by 40%.
The new highway from Tashkent to Samarkand, with a length of about 300 km, will allow drivers to get there faster, reduce the load on existing roads, and provide convenient connections between the country's key economic centers.
Comfort is also emphasized. The roads will be equipped with modern service areas and paid services. Both international companies and domestic contractors will participate in the construction.
In the coming years, Uzbekistan's road infrastructure will reach a new level, providing convenient and safe routes for businesses and the population.
