Uzbekistan to Introduce a Separate Tax System for High-Income Citizens
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan plans to establish a separate taxation system for citizens with high incomes. This was announced by Mubin Mirzayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee, at a press conference held on April 1 at the Information and Mass Communications Agency (AOKA).
According to him, special tax measures have already been developed.
"We have developed separate measures for tax collection and payment for individuals with the highest incomes by segmenting them. A complete database will be created, ensuring that no individual can reduce or alter their income to evade taxes," Mirzayev stated.
Additionally, Mirzayev noted that the committee would need approximately one more year to develop the new electronic system. The planned system will cover taxation of income earned not only in Uzbekistan but also abroad.
"If an Uzbek resident earns income abroad, they will be required to pay taxes in the country. Regarding non-residents, the Tax Committee will take into account foreign tax payments to prevent double taxation," he added.
It has been reported that out of Uzbekistan’s 38 million population, over 18 million people earn an income and are subject to taxation.
