Uzbekistan to Launch Open Geological Data Platform in Early 2027

Uzbekistan plans to launch an open geological data platform early next year. First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology Feruza Khamidova announced the plan at the GEOMIN-2026 international scientific conference currently taking place in Tashkent.
The event focuses on international cooperation in geological exploration, the exchange of experience in subsoil use and the introduction of modern technologies into the mining industry. According to official information, GEOMIN-2026 is being held in Tashkent from September 14 to 18 by the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG).
According to Khamidova, the open database is part of the digital transformation of Uzbekistan’s geological sector. More than 30,000 geological reports were digitized during the first stage, while the second stage is now nearing completion.
Once launched, the platform is expected to allow investors to access geological information within a few clicks. This is intended to reduce the time and costs required to find and analyze data on the country’s subsoil and simplify access to available geological information.
Digitalization is becoming a key area of development for the sector. The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology has previously outlined plans to expand the use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and advanced geophysical methods in geological exploration and mining.
A Technology Transformation Center has also been established under the ministry. It is responsible for the digitalization of the sector, including geological activities. Khamidova said the center’s work would accelerate the development of the database and geoportal.
GEOMIN-2026 brings together industry representatives to discuss the future of geology, subsoil development, international cooperation and technological advancement. Key areas of the forum include the exploration of critical minerals, digitalization, artificial intelligence and advanced geophysical methods.
